I was born in 1968 in a small Italian town in the Abruzzi region. My family immigrated to United States in the early 70’s. They settled in a small Midwest farming and ranching community. My father, a stonemason and my mother, a seamstress have a strong belief in education, work, and sense of self. In the summers I worked with my father, who taught me about structures and building with cement and stone. My mother taught me patience and the value of the family. Traveling back to Italy to visit my grandparents, relatives, and friends, it reaffirmed my love of ancient building techniques, arts, and culture.

I attended the University of South Dakota, College of Fine Arts. My interest in ceramics began there. I continued my academic career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The professors taught art as a linear progression. A student enters the art world defining and redefining themselves until they find their place. My journey started in 1998 with a small company, building custom metal and concrete furniture. I designed and machined functional works of art which physically engaged with the user.

In 2004, my wife and I moved to Charleston, South Carolina where I began working with clay again. I am an owner/member of Cone Ten Studios, a ceramic studio that houses 20 local artists and craftsmen.

Just as clay has memory, I too assimilate my experiences into the process.
